Author Ebony Snow reveals her biggest obsession!

We're so excited to share new author Ebony Snow's All About the Author post today! She's not only new to Last Chapter Press-- she'll be joining us for several projects this year-- but she's also a new author in the short romance genre. We love taking chances on new authors who want to give writing a shot! Let's catch up with Ebony and see what she has to say!

How’d you get into writing?
Ever since I was little I loved stories. I read and watched movies galore. I was hooked. It wasn't until a few years ago that I decided to take my writing seriously and not keep it as just a hobby even though my biggest dream was to be an author. However, I didn't have much confidence in my ability, which is what took me so long to take the plunge. Still I wasn't ready, so I became a ghostwriter and got my feet wet. And let's just say it was the absolute best decision in my life because I met so many amazing people and along the way I got to learn so much and my confidence grew. I started investing in myself and realized it was time to start publishing my own works.

What do you like to read and why?
I love to read romance, which is rather new to me. I've only been reading it in the past 4 or 5 years. I used to only be a thriller and mystery reader, but now I love to have romance in the stories. I'm still addicted to thrillers and mysteries though. I love to write heartfelt, romantic stories with some spice. There's got to be the whole well rounded act of love for me. I love sweet stories, but I like diving into every aspect of the relationship and I became hooked on instalove's.

To me they are the contemporary fairytale that melts my heart.

But there's a darker side to me too and keeping people on the edge of their seat waiting for what might happen next is something I would love to dive into in the future. Afterall, Thrillers have been my go too for so long.

Three things about you that no one knows.
I am obsessed with Elvis, always have been! My pen names are named after my dog who I had my whole adult life, but she passed in 2022 at 17 years old. Shortly after I was deciding on pen names and so I used her so that way she's always with me. I absolutely love to learn. If it interests me in anyway or I find it functional for my life, then I deep dive into learning everything I can about that subject.

Where do you hope to see your writing in ten years?
In ten years time, I see me writing consistently as I continue to releases books to readers who can't get enough my stories. Lol. I will be a multi-genre author. It won't hurt either if I happen to have a few movie and series options as well. Looking at you Harlan Coben :)

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would you choose and why?
If I Can Dream by Elvis Presley. It is my absolute favorite song and it always inspires me to dream and keep reaching for them. No matter the doubts or fears, I can keep moving forward. No matter what anybody else has to say. I can keep moving forward.

What’s your go-to drink? Coffee? Tea? The hard stuff?
Water. I am a big water drinker. I don't usually crave other drinks. I do like tea though, preferably herbal. Cannot stand coffee.

What about writing do you find the hardest and how do you overcome the obstacle?
I find with writing the hardest I have to deal with is my inner-monologue. I keep thinking my writing isn't good enough. That so many other writer's are far superior to me. So I can get into slumps where I self-sabotage and freeze. When you work alone it's hard to get that self-motivation to keep on moving. That's why it is so important to have a support system. I have a couple groups of writer friends who understand and can pull me out and push me to keep going. And then I have my family and non-writer friends to remind me that there is more to writing, and to get me out of my head and out of the house, but remind me also that I love what I do so much. So why am I going to stop now. That this is may passion and my calling.

Other than your Last Chapter Press book(s), which of your books or series do you love the most and why?
I'm going to say it's the books I'm working on now because I love everything I write. The characters are real to me. Sure they're no going to be everybody's cup of tea, but I love them none the less. I'm growing and learning and getting better with each book. so I'm going to say my Promises From The Heart series, because I just finished planning them and I'm almost finished writing the first one.

Would you encourage others to get into writing?
If you are passionate and love to write and willing to sacrifice for it, then yes. I will wholeheartedly support and encourage you to write, because in my opinion it is the best job in the world. I was made to be a writer because at the end of the day if I don't write then I feel off and feel like something is missing. If this is a passing fancy or you think it's easy to sit down and write a compelling story then I wouldn't encourage it. Writing takes a lot out of people because they put themselves into the writing. They have to in order to give it the humanity quality. If you don't have a passion for it then there is nothing to make you a little vulnerable or to force you to sit down for hours on end and produce the words. When a friend calls to go out, you might not necessarily have the discipline to say no I need to get these words out. Might keep shrugging it off to say I'll get it tomorrow. There are a lot of opportunities for tomorrow in the world of a writer because your accountability at the end of it all is you and making sure you show up.

What do you think of garden gnomes?
Garden gnomes are awesome!!! I grew up with them everywhere, my mom is a major gardener and she has them everywhere so I never not have one in my line of sight whenever I go in her front or back yard.
