Last Chapter Press is currently open to submissions for short romance only: stories under 30,000 words, written in first person, present tense with dual points of view.

We're looking for short, steamy romance built on instalove. That means an immediate, undeniable connection and characters who know what they want and go after it. Give us heat, heart, and a happily ever after, all in a quick, satisfying read.

What we're seeking:

  • Short romance under 30,000 words
  • First person, present tense only, dual POV writing (manuscripts in other POVs or tenses and not dual POV will not be considered)
  • Instalove front and center: fast-burn attraction, emotional connection, and a clear tropes list
  • Vivid characters, strong conflict, and a spice level of no more than 4.5 out of 5
  • A guaranteed happily ever after, no cheating, and no cliffhangers
  • Series potential preferred. Special consideration is given to linked short romances.

❌ No pseudo incest, infidelity, bestiality, rape (even as titillation), necrophilia, pedophilia, underage sex, or depraved acts (i.e. masturbatory voyeurism), cheating, and cliffhangers.

❌ No previously published works, plagiarism, song lyrics, or copyrighted material.

❌ No AI generated, created, conceptualized, or outlined stories.

All authors submitting must be 18 years of age or older for consideration.

Attach a Microsoft Word document that includes a synopsis (up to 2 pages) and the full manuscript.

Reviews of full manuscripts will take up to 30 days for a response.

Expectations for authors joining Last Chapter Press:

✅ Established and active social media presence on at least 2-3 outlets (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)

✅ Participation with online chats and promotions created by Last Chapter Press

✅ Be open to feedback and accepting to the expertise provided by Last Chapter Press.
