Author Interview: What is Kali Hart's go to song for a great day?
We're very excited to announce that Kali Hart's story, My Sweetart Holidate, was chosen for our new award, the Stand Out Story Award. 1. How’d you get into writing?
I’ve been writing since I was 9 years old. I’ve always loved creating stories!
2. What do you like to read and why?
I read a variety of genres. Romance is of course my favorite. But I also enjoy, just to name a few, cozy mysteries, paranormal women’s fiction, mystery, and romantic comedies. Whatever I do read, though, I prefer that there’s at least a romantic subplot because I just love couples falling in love!
3. Three things about you that no one knows.
1) I’ve been to Hawaii 4 times.
2) I have a huge sweet tooth, but I don’t like chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream.
3) I can’t read a good book without biting my nails.
4. Where do you see your writing in ten years?
10 years from now, I hope to have too many books out to count! And multiple new pen names for multiple genres I still want to write. I have no plans to slow down. I’ll be writing until I take my last breath!
5. If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would you choose and why?
Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake. I’ve always loved how upbeat this song is. You just can’t help but dance to it!
6. What’s your go-to drink? Coffee? Tea? The hard stuff?
Dr. Pepper!
7. What about writing do you find the hardest and how do you overcome the obstacle?
I don’t know if it’s the hardest thing, but it certainly makes things challenging when my characters go off script and force me to take the story in a new direction without consulting me. The best course of action when this happens is just to follow my instincts and see where it leads. Most of the time, the new direction is the right one.
8. Other than My Sweetart Holidate 😄 which of your books or series do you love the most and why?
I love all my books, of course. If I had to pick one series that really stands out to me, it’s my Mountain Men of Caribou Creek series. These books have been so much fun to write! The stories are interconnected. They each have a rowdy, meddling grandma. There’s just as many laughs as there is steam. And they’re set in one my favorite places: Alaska!
9. Would you encourage others to get into writing?
This is, of course, a very personal decision. But if writing is something that brings you joy, then absolutely!
10. What do you think of garden gnomes?
I don’t trust them…
